1,000 UAE Families Set to Benefit from New Entrepreneurship Drive

The UAE has introduced a new national initiative aimed at supporting 1,000 Emirati families in building their own businesses over the next five years. The programme forms part of a broader effort to strengthen economic participation and encourage long-term financial independence, aligning with the country’s vision to position itself as a global hub for entrepreneurship.

Developed through collaboration between multiple government entities and national organisations, the initiative focuses on helping families transition from financial support systems into self-sustaining income models. Rather than targeting high-growth startups alone, the programme places emphasis on practical, achievable business development at the household level.

At its core, the approach is structured around three key areas: employment readiness, entrepreneurial development, and financial awareness. The newly launched programme represents the first step in building a stronger culture of entrepreneurship among families, providing them with the tools needed to enter and compete in the market.

The initiative is designed to accommodate participants at different stages of readiness. Families are grouped based on their current position, whether they are starting with an idea, working to stabilise an existing income source, or looking to expand an established activity. This tiered structure allows each participant to receive guidance that matches their level of experience and capability.

Instead of direct financial support, the programme offers structured training, mentorship, and access to a network of partners from both the public and private sectors. The focus is on building long-term skills and market understanding, enabling participants to develop viable business concepts and gradually bring them to market.

Training is delivered in a compact but intensive format. Each participating family nominates one member to attend a series of sessions that combine in-person and online learning. The curriculum covers key areas such as idea development, business planning, branding, and market positioning, with an emphasis on practical application.

Officials note that while the programme is open to a wide range of sectors, participants will be guided toward areas aligned with national economic priorities. These may include fields such as agriculture, logistics, and food-related industries, where opportunities for growth and sustainability are expanding.

Selection for the programme is designed to be accessible. Emirati nationals aged 18 and above are eligible to apply, with a strong focus placed on willingness to participate and commitment to the process rather than prior business experience. This inclusive approach allows individuals at the earliest stages of their journey to take part.

The rollout will take place gradually, with approximately 200 families joining each year across multiple training groups. Progress will be monitored through ongoing assessments and feedback, allowing organisers to refine the programme over time and improve outcomes for future participants.

While the initial target is set at 1,000 families, there is potential for further expansion if the programme demonstrates strong results. As the UAE continues to prioritise innovation and economic diversification, initiatives like this are expected to play an important role in supporting sustainable growth and empowering communities through entrepreneurship.
