For those planning to donate blood and in need of an iron boost, a visit to Haidilao may be just what you need.
The Chinese hotpot chain has partnered with the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) to encourage blood donations throughout the month of March.
Donors this month can enjoy a 20% discount on food items at 15 Haidilao outlets across the island.
Donors dining on the same day as their blood donation only need to show their bandaged arm to Haidilao staff to redeem the discount. Those dining on a different day must show proof of their blood donation in March on the DonateBlood app.
This promotion is valid all day from Mondays to Fridays and allows for one 20% discount per donor per bill, with one set redemption per transaction.
Groups of four dining together can also enjoy a special four-person hotpot set for $66.60++ along with limited-edition stickers.
The hotpot set includes iron-rich ingredients like pork liver, beef tripe, premium red meats, a soup base, vegetables, and dessert.
To avail of this offer, diners need to use the promo code and tag @heybloodbuddy and @haidilaosingapore on Instagram or TikTok.
This promotion is available from 11am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays, at all Haidilao outlets in Singapore, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Why Donate Blood?
Blood donation is crucial for saving lives during emergencies and supporting individuals with medical conditions such as leukaemia, thalassaemia, and bleeding disorders, as highlighted by the Singapore Red Cross.
Patients undergoing major surgeries also require blood transfusions.
As of Monday, the blood stock update indicates that blood types AB+, A-, and B- are in moderate supply, while AB- is in low supply.
It's important to note that one unit of blood can potentially save up to three lives. Eligible donors can check their eligibility on .
According to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), the number of youth blood donors in Singapore has dropped by nearly 50% over the past decade, from 20,400 donors in 2014 to 10,800 in 2024.
HSA and SRC are working towards increasing youth donors to 15,000 by 2030 to reverse this downward trend.
