Singaporeans will soon have the opportunity to savor Torikizoku's delectable skewers without having to travel all the way to Japan.
According to The Nikkei, the popular chain will be franchised in Singapore by Gohan Concepts, a collaboration between FairPrice Group and F&B company BHAG Pte Ltd.
An announcement on Eternal Hospitality Group's (EHG) website on Feb 27 revealed that this expansion is part of the company's strategy to grow its 'global yakitori family' in Southeast Asia.
This move follows the establishment of a subsidiary in Vietnam and a franchise agreement in the Philippines before entering the Singapore market.
A formal agreement between EHG and Gohan Concepts is set to be signed in March, allowing the latter to introduce the chain to Singapore.
Torikizoku is renowned for its budget-friendly fixed-price menu and distinctive yellow signboard, offering a range of grilled skewers, rice dishes, and alcoholic beverages priced at 390 yen ($3.20) each.
Popular items on the menu include Momo Kizokuyaki (Chicken Thigh Skewer), Mune Kizokuyaki (Chicken Breast Skewer), and Tsukune (Meatballs).
The chain also features an extensive selection of beers, highballs, and cocktails.
With over 600 outlets in Japan and branches in South Korea, the US, and China, Torikizoku has garnered a widespread following.
While it remains uncertain if Singapore will enjoy the same affordable pricing, FairPrice Group expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "We are dedicated to enhancing dining experiences and are eager to introduce this new concept in Singapore."
