Zendaya has shed light on why she and Tom Holland have chosen not to confirm their marital status.
While the "Euphoria" actress's stylist has hinted at their potential marriage, the "Spider-Man" co-stars have refrained from providing a direct answer. Zendaya explained that there are aspects of their relationship they prefer to keep private.
During an appearance on the New York Times' Modern Love podcast, Zendaya stated, "I just feel like for me there is this level of a parasocial investment in my personal relationship."
She acknowledged the public nature of their lives, noting, "I do know that I'm a public person and so is he, and I'm also aware that we've grown up in front of people and we've done movies where we fall in love with each other. I really do understand that and I don't want to dismiss that like, 'Stay out of my business' or whatever."
Zendaya emphasized her desire for privacy, stating, "In a lot of ways, I'm also a very private person, and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well."
She clarified that she and Tom are not trying to "hide from the world," but rather wish to "preserve things for ourselves so that we can maintain that joy just within ourselves and our loved ones and our family."
Zendaya further explained, "I hear it but also my own little boundaries of what I like to bring up and talk about but then also what I'm willing to share."
Recently, Zendaya playfully dodged questions about marriage rumors when asked if she had any secrets.
When Extra host Terri Seymour inquired about the biggest secret she has kept, Zendaya responded, "I don't know - that's what secrets are, right?"
Terri then pressed her if she had a secret, to which Zendaya replied, "No, nothing that comes to mind."
Zendaya reportedly got engaged to Tom in late 2024 after several years of dating, and last month, celebrity stylist Law claimed the couple had already tied the knot.
He told Access Hollywood, "The wedding has already happened. You missed it."
When asked if that was "true," Law replied, "It's very true!"
Tom has previously emphasized that the couple is committed to keeping their relationship private, as it has "nothing to do with" their acting careers. He told The Hollywood Reporter, "Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible. We don't think that we owe it to anyone; it's our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers."
